Programs in the insurance field prepare students for positions such as claims adjusters, examiners, investigators, salespersons, legal support workers, and insurance underwriters. A variety of training options is available, from a short term insurance specialist certificate to an associate in arts degree. Students engaged in preparing for entry level and advanced insurance careers take courses in personal insurance, property and liability insurance, commercial insurance, and ethics, among others. An internship is also a critical part of this training designed to meet industry’s need for professional, highly skilled employees.
