Federal and state laws require insurance of all kinds, from automobiles, to houses, to businesses. This makes insurance a stable field, even during times of economic difficulty.

The Risk Management/Insurance major at Central Christian College of Kansas is designed for those students interested in pursuing employment or a career in the insurance industry. Central Christian has partnered with Farmers Alliance, a highly respected regional insurance company with its home office in McPherson, Kansas. They provide seasoned instructors from their employee base to teach the insurance courses. As one of the few private colleges in the country offering an RMI major, Central Christian is partnering with the property and casualty insurance industry to fill the 400,000 projected positions needed by 2020 in the Property & Casualty sector.

The curriculum is based on the offerings by the insurance Institutes of Malvern, PA and leads to the Associate in General Insurance (AINS) professional designation, after the student passes the appropriate Institutes exams. Along with the seven RMI courses required in the major, the program follows a traditional business management (or accounting) major. Insurance internships are available to students in order to give them direct experience in their area of study.

Whether the student only takes two or three RMI courses or pursues the full major, the study and experience will provide an invaluable addition to their education. For those seeking a career in the industry, the Risk Management/Insurance major will fully prepare students for any potential employment within the insurance field.
